Our first kit in 1982 was a Resin Bodied Class 76 locomotive (why),
because I had just seen the Woodhead Line close and be ripped up, all the interesting locomotives were going to that scrap yard in the sky. So I decided to get stuck in and get my first kit off the ground, the first kit was a 1500V dc locomotive, so I called it a dc kit. This was followed by a poor selling EM2, it was then I realised that I shouldn't make what I liked! Thus I made enquiries with Ian Kirk (Fife) about doing a DMU kit, I selected the Class 101 Met-Cam as it was the most popular DMU in the UK, and obviously the one any decent RTR manufacturer might produce too! After 12 months and over 400 sales, LIMA decided they would do a Class 101 Met-Cam and everyone said 'Your finished now'. Who was to know that ours is still available today & LIMA's is not, 'funny how things work out, ain't it' Two years later I was planning the Class 121 & 122 kits and LIMA did it again, what have I ever done to the Italian's! Since then we have sold over 20,000 coaches & multiple unit vehicles, over 3500 locomotive kits and a staggering 56,000 video tapes. Yes I made my money selling videos!
The kit side of the business has developed not because we make stacks of money, but because I wanted to do something that no one else was doing, development & tooling costs alone exceed £200.000, ( have to sell a lot of 2 car DMU`s to cover that bill!). But sales in the older kits continue, the best sellers being 'Southern Region', closely followed by our five 2 car DMU kits. Our new postal vehicles have proved fantastically popular, over 500 sold in five months. Our slowest selling range are the 25 kV EMU's, the most popular of these is the Glasgow 303 Blue Train with over 400 happy owners modelling the Cathcart Circle! If you have bought one of our kits, then THANK YOU, if you haven't then there is no rush as unlike LIMA we are not going anywhere.
The last time I had a ride on a Class 101, from Platform 1 at Manchester Piccadilly via Guide Bridge (Class 76 land) on the journey the front seat fell off and the Guard had to carry it into the brake van. (Can you imagine the Voyagers in 45 years time).
After the journey I thought, nostalgia. That's what modelling is all about.
I hope you find something here that tempts you, thanks for looking.
